Dunhill is arguably the most highly regarded pipe house in the world. All components of the pipe are still hand made in London and tailored to the individual pipe as they make them. They are credited with multiple innovations that changed pipe production forever, most notably the sandblast finish which has been widely adopted.
Released in November 2022, this set commemorates the life and legacy of Mary Dunhill, who was a key figure in Dunhill's legacy.
Appointed Director of Alfred Dunhill Ltd in 1943, she succeeded Herbert E. Dunhill as Managing Director in 1950 and Alfred H. Dunhill as Chairman in 1961 - a position she held for 14 years. During her tenure, the company grew substantially, expanded internationally, received a Royal Warrant from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and won the Queens Award to Industry three times.
At a time when women were rather a rare sight in leading business positions, the impressive career of Mary Dunhill in charge of a large, industry-leading international group was impressive and set a positive early example for the emancipation of women in business.
The Amber Root Bent Rhodesian is complimented by a longer stem in harmony with it's elegant form.
The Shell Briar finish is contrasted with a semi-beveled smooth section delivering a surprising and unique twist on a staple shape.
The collectable set is completed with a dog bone shaped leather-bound pipe case.
