Established in 1952 by Hiroshi Tsubota, Tsubota Pearl manufactures lighters, cigarette cases and leather goods in the heart of Tokyo. The Hard Edge model was developed in 1999 as a creative exploration into a fresh lighter design. The result is a fashionable smoking accessory representative of the vibrant design aesthetic of Japan.

The Sigaretta lighter is a petite and attractive fashion lighter. Named as such, because of it's similar size to a standard cigarette. Presented here in campy fun with realistic looking cigarette designs and all.

The lighter functions very similarly to a Zippo: using liquid oil lighter fluid, a replaceable flint striker and a wick and wadding system.

To fuel, a small screw is undone in the base and fuel is added.

The flint is replaced by removing the entire flint mechanism from the top and unscrewing the base. The wheel is directional, so it needs to be placed back in the same orientation. The small red dot should be pointed at wick when re-inserted.

Occasionally the wick will need to be replaced, which is also done via the bottom.

As a lighter fluid system, the fuel will evaporate over time, even when not used. It usually requires filling every 1 - 2 weeks.
