Nørding pipes have created an ingenious filter solution that is a feature of their Shorty pipe. The Danish company locally sources volcanic clay pebbles that are placed in the bottom chamber of their specially designed Shorty pipe. The volcanic clay works much like Charcoal and absorbs moisture and impurities from the smoke.
Nørding Keystones can be used in the bottom of a traditional pipe as a bottom layer in the pipe bowl that you place the tobacco on top of. This provides all the same filtration and reduces tobacco waste. They are not ideal to place in the shank's chamber where a typical pipe filter resides.
